PROJETO UERÊ is a model school with a tailored pedagogy (UERÊ-MELLO), intended for children and youngsters ranging from 4 to 18 years old.

The little Uerês share dreams, accomplishments and improved self-esteem, even in an alarming environment of extreme poverty, social exclusion, violence induced trauma and learning difficulties.

Despite these challenges, PROJETO UERÊ aims at integrating children and teenagers into the society, helping them to achieve full citizenship, develop critical thinking, increase schooling levels, and to have access to new technologies.

On this journey, UERÊ’s receive individual attention to conquer multiple learning problems and cognition blockades.

From the beginning, PROJETO UERÊ plans a different future, enhancing chances for entrance in the formal labor market through first job incentives.

It was founded in 1998 by Yvonne Bezerra de Mello, Álvaro Bezerra de Mello, Ayrton Secundino Ribeiro, and Héber Moura Júnior.
